Green Beauty Review

Empties

All my #empties from August 2017-March 2018 ish

I’m not even 100% sure when these empties were collected but I think it was roughly August through March so here we go! Most of these products I loved and will likely repurchase at some point. A couple of them I may or may not.

Enjoy reading about my experience with these makeup and skincare products – I hope it helps you find something new to try!

This has quickly become my all time favorite green beauty mascara. I haven’t tried a ton yet but I’ve used enough to know that I truly love this one. It’s a splurge at $38 but technically it’s a mascara and growth serum in one which definitely makes the price more bearable. I love the dry, whipped texture because it’s super buildable and less messy than “wet” formulas. I have also noticed a legitimate difference in the density and length of my lashes having used this almost daily since it’s launch late 2017.

I really love the general idea behind a liquid spray deodorant – it absorbs and dries immediately, doesn’t leave stains, and it much easier to reapply. However in this case I was not super impressed. I found this deodorant would work well for a while and then it seemed like it started to perpetuate BO by the end of my day and I typically don’t have much BO in general. I did enjoy the scent but I just don’t think the formula worked with my body chemistry and so I won’t be repurchasing.

I am an avid oil cleanser if you didn’t know that already and this is one of my absolutely favorites. I think the main reason is because it’s super simple and gentle but incredibly effective. It smells like ylang-ylang which is invigorating and will completely dissolve makeup. The ingredients are simple and each one has a purpose so this is well suited for literally any skin type. I would also highly recommend this to someone who is just starting out with oil cleansing. I have repurchased several times already! The larger size is $42 which is very reasonsable and lasts forever.

Face mists are a product I never knew I loved until I got more serious about skincare. evenhealy makes some of the most beautiful hydrosols and I really enjoyed the Rose Geranium. I often used it as my “cleanse” in the morning and it was perfect to wake up my skin and remove the residue from sleeping. I also love using it to mix masks (Osmia’s Adzuki mask goes perfectly with it). I was generously gifted a new bottle from evanhealy and I will definitely repurchase. These are usually around $22 which is super affordable.

Dry shampoo is an absolute bathroom essential in my opinion. I try to wash my hair only 2-3 times a week and so in between those days I love using Acure’s Dry Shampoo to freshen up my roots. This powder is super simple and works really well. I think the key is the super fine texture thanks to arrowroot power. I have repurchased countless bottles of this and haven’t found another organic dry shampoo that works as well especially considering the money – $8!

Again, I love a good face mist – and while I did like this one by Fitglow it wasn’t my favorite and it’s expensive at $39. I used it in the morning as my first cleanse and I did appreciate the way it made my skin feel. I did not like the spray cap because it not fine at all for spraying directly on your skin. I think if I found this on super sale or as a GWP I’d repurchase but it wasn’t my favorite and not worth the price in my opinion.

I know, another face mist, surprise surprise. But seriously, this is THE ONE. I have not experienced any other face mist like Pollen and I will always repurchase. I use this purely as a spray to add hydration in between skincare steps, to set makeup, and as my final step to set my skincare. No other mist I’ve used leaves my skin as refreshed, plump, and nourished as Pollen does. And how could I expect anything less from H is for Love. I also feel that considering the results I experience it is well worth the price of $42, and it also lasts a long time using it as a mist versus on a cotton pad.

I have just gotten into tinted moisturizers and SPF’s and this one was a major treat to get to experience. Despite the name being elusive this is a tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 and it was GOOD, like REALLY GOOD. The texture was absolutely incredible, it soaks into your skin beautifully and could easily be worn under makeup as a primer. I used this up so quick and it was super sad to run out. The only thing holding me back from repurchase is the price – $115. While I’m sure the full size would last a while and the price definitely reflects how incredible the ingredients are and the absolute beauty of the product I just can’t justify that price right now. But if I get the chance I will repurchase in a heart beat.

Oil cleansers are dear to my heart and this one was a complete surprise for me because I LOVED it. This was my first experience with an oil cleanser that emulsifies with water and washes clean, negating the needs for the usual warm wash cloth ritual. I was also astounded at how easily it dissolved my mascara (the Fitglow Good Lash is pretty tough to get off). I felt this cleanser left my skin super clean while moisturized and balanced. I will definitely repurchase when I run out my current cleansers. The price is a little high at $70 but I think if used once a day would last a long time.

As far as toners go I see them a bit differently than a face mist in how I use them. I use a toner or hydrosol in the morning as my first cleanse to wipe away the residue from sleeping. This rosewater tonic by Pure Luxe Apothecary is one of my absolute favorite toners. Rose hydrosol, rose essential oil, aloe juice, and witch hazel make this the perfect light cleanser in the morning on a cotton pad. I have repurchased countless bottles because I always come back to this toner. From time to time I also mix it with masks for extra soothing and clarifying. The full size is $32 which I think is reasonable and it lasts me quite a while using once a day.

I don’t exfoliate very often but when I do I really like a finer physical exfoliate – in comes Honey Love to the rescue. I was smitten at first use and had to repurchase the larger size as soon as I ran out. This can be used as a cleaner/exfoliator/mask which I also love, multitasking products are really handy. I personally mask with this first and then while cleansing it away I take time to massage it all over with a little water and get a great exfoliation. The honey and other key ingredients make this mask super nourishing. At $52 this is a steal and the big jar will last you forever.

I am so glad I finally got into body oils instead of lotions and this was one of the first ones I ever used. Lomi Lomi smells like a sweet, tropical paradise and it’s the perfect light body oil for post-shower or any time you need some lightweight moisture. I loved how easily it absorbs into my skin and it doesn’t leave me feeling sticky which can happen with body oils that are heavier. I repurchased this as soon as I ran out! At $28 this is also an amazing deal.

Okay everyone, this is my ride or die mask, seriously. If I never use another mask again that’s okay as long as I have an infinite supply of The Bean. Full of coffee, cacao, and vanilla – can you imagine what that smells like!? Yes it’s amazing. This mask does everything, it detoxifies, it hydrates, it fights free radicals, it exfoliates, it soothes, it nourishes, it’s more like what CAN’T this mask do. I can never believe how good my skin looks after using this mask, and since it’s honey based I leave it on for hours if I have the time because it stays moist and continues to deliver all that goodness to my skin. At $80 it’s slightly pricey but in my opinion well worth it and I will always repurchase.

Face oils are some of my favorite products to use, I love giving my skin what it wants and keeping it healthy with oils instead of lotions. I have now tried A LOT of face oils and I keep coming back to this Argan & Rosehip Face Oil by Pure Luxe Apothecary. I have not found another oil that has the gorgeous texture that this does. I use this primarily in the morning as my moisturizer under makeup and it goes on so smooth I cannot get enough. It’s also lightweight so it absorbs well and gives my skin just enough nourishment for the day ahead. Sometimes I layer it with a balm at night to keep my skin hydrated while sleeping. Also, at $38 I think this is great deal.

I am really fortunate to have pretty normal skin and very few breakouts, but when I do have a breakout I’ve found that my skin loves a good combo of blue tansy and german chamomile. Sans Age Face Serum is the best serum I’ve found in calming my skin with a super effective blending of the ingredients mentioned. This serum is oil based and relatively moisturizing so it could be used as your moisturizer during the day, and layered in the evening. It smells absolutely incredible and promotes incredible healing for my skin. I repurchased the full size at $80 and feel it’s well worth the money especially since I only use it when my skin is in need.
