Past Life Detective Workshop

I wanted to write a blog post about a really cool experience I had recently: attending a Past Life Detective Workshop. I know it may sound a little crazy to some but I try to keep an open mind about all things spiritual because really, at the end of the day, we don’t know A LOT about ourselves and our universe. Why dismiss things just because they’re not accepted by the majority?

Here’s how the workshop worked, it was a small group, about 10 people including our instructor, which is actually my life coach, Lisa. She was professionally trained in Past Life Regression by world renowned past life expert Denise Linn. We had notebooks so that we could write lots of notes as we went along, there was a lot of information to take in. Essentially there were about 15 different categories (like geographic locations,  personality traits, relationships, etc.) that we went through in a guided manner. We got really comfortable in our seats, closed our eyes, took some deep breaths, and then Lisa would walk us through a category such as Personality/Habitual Behaviors or Geographical Locations. The general idea is to mediate a little and as she’s asking the questions and leads within each category letting your mind wander and paying attention to where it goes because it’s going there for a reason.

So for me, with Geographical Locations, I have always had an affinity for London and England. I took a trip when I was in middle school, we visited New York, Paris, and London – I hated both New York and Paris but London stuck with me for some reason and I’ve always had a thing for it. This could be a clue about a past life where I had a connection to London or England. Or another category was our names. My name is Victoria, I’ve always gone by my full name, I’ve never liked nicknames, and I’ve always loved the “royal” feeling to my name. Obviously I’ve always had an interest in Queen Victoria as well. All these little clues potentially come together to give some insight about possible past lives I’ve had. It’s possible I love London and love my formal name and the idea of being a Queen because I had a life during that time period and maybe I was even part of the royal family in some way.

This workshop was by no means a deep dive. It’s called a “detective” workshop because it’s a way of brushing the surface and opening your mind to these ideas. It also makes you more aware of things you’ve never been able to explain or pin point before. Like if you have a random passion for something like Egyptian culture, it could very well mean that you had a past life in ancient Egypt. Or maybe you’ve always loved asian culture and language and want to visit Japan or China, it could mean that you had a past life in one of those countries.

Several of the categories had to do with the people in our life as well. It’s very common that the same people or really their souls, connect in some way life after life after life. Your husband in this life may have been a brother or father in another life. Your best friend may have been a sister or your child in another life. Or someone that you immediately disliked for no reason may have been an enemy at one time. And genders don’t necessarily match up, your soul doesn’t have a gender so you may be female now and have been a man in some other life, same with the people that are close to you who may be male in this life but could’ve been female in another and vis versa.

This workshop serves as a way to start looking for some of these clues, and then after going through all the different categories you go back through all your notes and meditative thoughts and look for over arching patterns, and maybe smaller patterns as well. And these patterns are what start to give you a map of sorts to figuring out who you may have been in a past life.

I found the entire thing fascinating, I love being introspective and learning more about myself because honestly we don’t always know ourselves that well if you’ve never truly spent time deep diving into your own mind. It’s a really interesting way to find out why you may do things a certain way or why you feel so negatively towards a certain person, place, or general object.

EXERCISE TO TRY AT HOME:
Lisa explained a really cool exercise you can do at home to explore more:  In a dark room, light a candle or maybe a salt lamp (soft light). Sit yourself in front of a mirror and get really comfortable. Take a few deep breaths and stare into your own eyes in the mirror (you want just enough light to see yourself but have an overall dark room around you). After a couple minutes you’ll notice that you may start to see other reflections of people, these are identities from past lives. You may also get to a point where you’re staring straight into your own soul which should fill you up with immense joy, peace, and calm and could manifest itself in many ways. You can do this entire thing for as long as you’re comfortable, maybe only a few minutes at first and work your way up to 30 minutes or 1 hour of meditation. Note that your eyes are open this entire time, you’re starting into your own eyes.
