Kaia Earth Pure Moisturizer – REVIEW

About a month ago, Gloria of Kaia Earth reached out to me about trying her new skincare line and I jumped at the chance! Her debut product is a hydrating day/night serum called Pure Moisturizer.

I love that this serum’s first ingredient is aloe leaf gel, aloe is one of the most amazing plant ingredients on this planet and I love seeing it in my skincare products. The ingredients are pretty clean minus a couple at the very end of the ingredient list, so you know the exposure is very minimal. This is still a very clean serum devoid of all the big nasties (plates, paragons, silicones, perfumes, etc). I added some information about the ingredients at the end of this post.

Since it’s aloe-based I preferred using it right after toning when my face was still damp. The dampness helps this serum soak right in. This serum isn’t oily at all, it has a few essential oils but overall it’s not an oily consistency and doesn’t leave any greasy-ness. After applying this I would then finish with whatever face oil or moisturizer I was using normally. From time to time I am also using it on my décolleté to add a little moisture without using an oil. Unfortunately my chest has gotten the brunt of my sun damage when I was younger so I’m working on caring for that skin now to help it heal and restore – therefore the aloe in this is a dream.

I really enjoy how soothing this serum is upon application. I can tell the aloe and my skin got along really nicely. And it doesn’t hurt that we also have olive fruit extract, calendula flowers, and rosewood essential oils in the mix. The smell definitely caught me off guard at first, it’s not really a good or bad fragrance, just unique. My take is that the rosewood essential oil is the strongest scent note but it doesn’t linger at all, it’s gone instantly after applying to your skin.

The amount of product you get is more than enough, I only had to use 4-5 drops to quench my skin so a 1 ounce bottle is going to last a long time. I feel like the price might be a little on the high side compared to similar products in this price-range but since this is her first product I understand needing to set things a little high, and I’m sure there is a lot of room for change as this skin care line evolves.

ABOUT THE BRAND:     Kaia Earth was founded by Gloria Onderdonk, a mother and animal-lover from Venezuela,  and a beauty aficionado disgusted with how toxic all the main stream brands out there are. She decided to take matters into her own hands and create a skin care line that she could stand behind. She also works with 1% for the Planet and donates 1% of all profits to nonprofit organizations that work to protect the environment.

OVERALL OPINION:     Soothing, calming, and soaks right in. I would recommend this serum to others especially if you love aloe. I do feel it’s a little expensive but will also last a really long time. The ingredients might not be clean enough for some.
